How to choose a suitable abrasive belt, prolong the service life of the abrasive belt, and further improve the smoothness and flatness of the sanding is a frequently encountered problem in the use of the abrasive belt. Question: How to choose the right belt?
Answer: Abrasive belt is a belt-shaped tool that is bonded to flexible materials such as paper and cloth by abrasives for grinding and polishing. Abrasive belt is composed of base material, abrasive and binder (Figure 1).
The base material of the abrasive belt for furniture production is cloth and paper. The paper base is made of specially treated high-strength paper as the base of the abrasive belt. The price of the abrasive belt of the paper base is higher than that of the cloth base. Abrasive belt is 1/3-2/3 lower. The paper belt base is relatively hard and can grind the surface with high smoothness. Paper belt base abrasive belts are used in fine grinding and super fine grinding. The cloth belt base is stronger than the paper belt base, and is less sensitive to temperature and humidity than the paper belt base. It will not lose stability due to the increase in temperature and humidity. The cloth belt is more durable than the solid sand belt. Much higher.
The size of the abrasive has a great influence on the productivity of sanding and the roughness of the machined surface. Generally speaking, coarse grit is used for rough grinding, large plasticity, large grinding area, to avoid chip embedding, soft workpiece, etc.; fine grit is used for fine grinding and hard workpiece.
The abrasive is bonded to the tape base by a binder. The adhesive should have strength, elasticity, heat resistance, water resistance, etc. At present, the commonly used adhesives are animal glue and synthetic resin. Animal glue is not water resistant, and synthetic resin has good water resistance. The water-resistant sanding belt adopts water-resistant synthetic resin as the primer and compound, and carries out strict waterproof treatment.
